A new merchant trade shipping company between Canada and the United Kingdom according to the Dutch newspaper Het Algemeen Handelsblad dated 21 February 1912

According to tidings from Ottowa were the Canadian government and some British entrepreneurs negotiating about the founding of a new shipping line between Halifax and the United Kingdom with ships with a speed of at least 24 knots. In this new company were the Canadian Pacific, Grand Trunk, Canadian Northern and the Allanline interested. For the building of six ships which could be used in wartime as cruisers was a budget of 30.000.000 dollars. The Canadian government would probably granted an annual subsidy of 4.000.000 dollars.
