British transport Adventure arrived at Yokohama according to the Dutch newspaper Zierikzeesche Courant dated 16 December 1865

A news item referred to the newspaper The Times which described the arrival at Yokohama, Japan of the transport Adventure in mid September coming from Hong Kong with around 300 officers, soldiers, women and children on board. When the troops were disembarked it became soon clear that they were in a worse condition. Soldiers bend caused by exhaustion while the women were even worse carrying their sick children. The journalist was really provoked that the authorities let this happen and wrote that the service in the Indies was already hard enough without this sort of misery. Hong Kong was as known a very unhealthy station to serve at and last summer was the town harassed by an epidemic causing many casualties.
