Dutch naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Dagblad van ‘s-Gravenhage dated 27 March 1829

According to an official source consisted the Dutch navy on 1 January 1829 in active service of 1-68 gun ship of the line, 7 32-44 gun frigates, 9 20-28 corvettes, 5 brigs, 3 advice yachts, 2 transports and 2 steamboats, totally 30 ships and vessels with a total armament of 720 guns and a personnel strength of 4,314 men. In not active service were available 1 74-84 gun ship of the line, 13 frigates (1-32, 11-44 and 1-60), 8 corvettes (1-20, 7-28), 5 brigs, 1 schooner and 30 gunboats. Total 63 ships excluded 1-80 gun ship of the line, 1-74 gun ship of the line, 1 frigate and 1 corvette all unseaworthy. The total strength was 93 ships. The cabinet intended to increase the navy in a period of 10 years with 6-74 gun ships of the line, 4-60 gun frigates, 10-44 gun frigates, 7-28 gun corvettes, 3-18 gun brigs, 1 training vessel, 3 advice yachts, 1 steamboat and some smaller vessels while in a second period of 10 years the cabinet intended to built another 12 ships of the line, 6-60 gun and 24-44 gun frigates.

Of the ships in active service were in the Mediterranean 1-44 gun and 1-32 gun frigate, 3 20-28 gun corvettes, 2-18 gun brigs, 2 advice yachts and 2 transports with a total armament of 184 guns and a personnel strength of 1,107 men. In the West Indies were 1-20 gun corvette and 3-18 gun brigs with a total personnel strength of 455 men. The other ships in active service were used for transporting despatches, cruising or as guard ships.
