The Austrian naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 31 January 1911

According to a tiding Budapest 30 January announced the Austrian minister of navy count Montecucucoli in the Hungarian parliament that the Austrian-Hungarian navy would possessed in 1915 10 battleships, 9 cruisers, 18 destroyers, 48 torpedo boats and 12 submarines. The figures for 1920 would be 16, 12. 24, 72 and 12! The edition dated 25 January reported that an additional budget of 55.000.000 crones was allowed necessary for the building of dreadnoughts, 3 cruisers, 12 torpedo boats and 6 submarines. The total building costs for these ships was 312.000.000 crones to spend over a period of 6 years.
