The Chilean parliament approved the budget of more as 50.000.000 Dutch guilders to extend the army and navy, enlarge the arsenals and improving of the coast defence. On 15 August would the Chilean government open the tender at London for the building of a 20.000 ton battleship, 4 large destroyers and two submarines. The same item was three days later again published.
