Thanks to the fact that nowadays more and more books are digitized we are able to read books that are some times for decades no longer available for the public for several reasons. That's quite a pity while these books contains useful information while the archives are destroyed, incomplete or nor accessible.
“letter from Christiana, of the 23rd December, states, that Norway had decided on the fitting out of a squadron composed of four frigates, five corvettes, and three brigs. This measure has been adopted in view of the events which are in preparation. This country, although united to Sweden, has a constitution of its own, a fleet of its own, and a national flag. Its inhabitants, like the Swedes, are altogether opposed to the Russian policy, of which they know the ambitious intentions, and, in consequence, they reckon on the power of France and England to aid then), if necessary, to cause their neutrality to be respected. The Russian officers sent on mission have been received with courtesy and consideration ; but they must have convinced themselves of the slight sympathy which the conduct of their Government inspires in any class of society.”
