Paris, 10 July. The commanding officer of the American squadron in the Mediterranean which watched the navies of the Barbary States heard that the Sultan ordered that their privateers had to be sent to the Archipelago. Fearing for the American interest he decided to blockade their three main ports and sent partly of his squadron to realize this.
