Austrian, British, French and Russian navies in the Black Sea area according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 23 September 1837

The British squadron in the Tagus off Lisbon was strengthened by another 2 ships of the line. Newspapers of London protested against the permission given by the Sultan according to tidings from Constantinople dated 27 August to an armed Austrian steamboat to sail through the Bosporus towards the Black Sea towards Sebastopol where she was to assist Arch duke Johan if necessary.
