Dutch whaler ’t Bonte Paart sold on Monday 17 October 1774 at Amsterdam


 Made by Gerrit Groenewegen (Rotterdam, 16 oktober 1754 – 7 augustus 1826). Zuiderzeecollectie.nl

This fluytship was sold on Monday 17 October 1774 in the Nieuwezyds Heeren Logement at Amsterdam. Last commandeur was Abraham Walig(1). Newly fitted out in 1739. Dimensions in Amsterdam foot 113’2”x 28’9”x 6’6”, S. 9’. In 1770 was a mizen mast placed and the rigging of the mainmast and foremast renewed and in 1774 the rigging of the mizen mast renewed. Price ƒ 4,700 Gerret van Santen voor his master.

1. Van Sante mentioned a Abraham Walig who sailed in 1774 for Cornelis Gerretsz Metselaar of Zaandam as a Greenland whaler with as results 6 whales, 136 barrels of whale blubber and 211 quardelen train oil.
