American whaler James Allen lying in December 1872 at Honolulu according to the Whalemen’s Shipping List dated Tuesday 7 January 1873
An item referred to a letter written by captain
Kelly on 15 December 1872 lying on board of the bark James Allen of New Bedford
lying at Honolulu that she was almost ready to depart towards the Arctic after
visiting Nagasaki in the spring of 1873. At Honolulu were 1.100 barrels oil
unloaded to be transported towards New Bedford. Further more was 17.000 lbs bone loaded
in a steamship destined towards San Francisco. The bone were from there
transported via the railway towards New Bedford.
