American whaler Parachute wrecked at Tahiti according to the Whalemen’s Shipping List dated Tuesday 24 January 1865

An item referred to a letter dated Valparaiso 16 December 1864 written by captain Howland of the Parachute lately wrecked at Tahiti reporting that the sent his catch of 900 barrels sperm with the Norman of and bound for Nantucket.
