Greek cargo ship Parimar 1961-1986

Starnded North Sea off Scheveningen, Netherlands 20 December 1974

Launched on 23 August 1961 at the shipyard N.V. Scheepsbouwwerf v/h De Groot&van Vliet, Slikkerveer with yard number 343 as the Kirsten Smits for account of Marinus Smits. Rotterdam, Netherlands. IMO 5189124 and callsign PFJN. Gross register tonnage 1.100 tons, deadweight 499 tons and as dimensions 72,65 (over all0 x 10,18 x 3,82 (depth). Horsepower 1.100 hp allowing a speed of 11,5 knots.Delivered on 14 October of the same year. Managed by Kamp’s Scheepvaart-&Handelsmaatschappij. In August 1973 renamed Anette Lon borg (PCRR) voor Lonbirg Scheepvaart B.V., Rotterdam. Since October 1974 the Greek-flagged Parimar of Parimar Shipping, Piraeus, Greece. Grounded on 20 December 1974 off Scheveningen when an explosion in the engine room resulted in a fire on board. On the 24th refloated by the tugs Titan, Utrecht and Cycloop and towed to Slikkerveer and from there in August 1975 towards Piraeus where she was repaired. She was underway with 1.000 ton steel for the Nederlandse Kabelfabriek, Alblasserdam, Netherlands. Renamed Dora III in service of Naviera Centroamericane Dora S.A., Piraeus and since 1976 as the Cypriot-flagged Dora in service of Adel navigation Co. Ltd., Limassol, Cyprus. In 1979 again renamed Unity II and owned by Compania Naviera Life Sea Co. S.A., Panama and Panama-lagged. On 11 February 1986 underway from Castellon towards Cyprus capsized during heavy weather and sunk without survivors.
