American whaler Pacific wrecked on Bhering’s Island according to the Whalemen’s Shipping List dated Tuesday 18 December 1866

An item referred to a letter dated Hakodadi, Japan 30 September reporting the arrival on the 13th of the 3rd mate and 5 more sailors belonging to the crew of the whaler Pacific captain French of Sagharbor. The bark was stranded on the Southeast side of Bherings’ Island (1) on 39 July. Her captain and mostly of the survivors embarked on board of a Prussian brig underway to Sitka. The six survivors above mentioned took an open boat and arrived safely after a voyage of two months.
