Dutch ship Nijverheid transported troops to the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper De Oostpost dated 1 February 1854

An item reported the departure of a detachment of 130 military from Harderwijk, Netherlands on 18 December 1853 to embark on the 20th at Nieuwediep, Netherlands the Dutch ship Nijverheid captain Kerkstra bound for the Dutch East Indies. The detachment was commanded by lieutenant colonel L.J. Kroll, 2nd lieutenants Vos and Docters van Leeuwen and officers of health 3rd class De Vogel, Hessig and Eisinger.
