An item dated Surabaya, Dutch East Indies 17th reported that the German steam frigate Gneisenau commanded by Valois and with a crew of 400 men left Makassar, Dutch East Indies bound for Batavia, Dutch East Indies and from there to the Suez Canal.(1)
