Denmark needed strong navy as protection against Prussian aggression according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuw Amsterdamsch handels- en effectible dated 11 October 1861

An item referred to the Danish newspaper Dagbladet published at Copenhagen, Denmark on the 8th which reported that in Germany the need for a German navy was discussed. The journalist however believed that a German navy was not a threat for Denmark but a Prussian would be. In his opinion Denmark ought to have a navy with  such a strength able to compete any Prussian action.
