British ship Portland underway from China towards England according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 16 February 1870

An item dated 11th reported the passing of the Sunda Strait by the British ship Portland captain Coster leaving Foochow, China on 20th January towards London, England.(1)

1. Iron-built, captain Coster earlier D. Smith, measured 872 ton, dimensions 190.6’ x 32.2’x 21.1’. built 1862 at Glasgow, Scotland, homeport London, England and owned by Temperlys&Co.
