Spanish steamship Sebastina torpedoed by submarine according to the Dutch newspaper Het nieuws van den dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië dated 12 February 1918

An item dated Madrid, Spain 8th reported the arrival at the Canary islands a day earlier of two boats of the Spanish steamship Sebastina which was torpedoed on the 5th. Sje was underway towards New York, USA loaded with salt which the commanding officer of the submarine considered to be contraband. The boats with on board the Spanish crew were of a distance of 40 miles towed by the submarine.
