British ship Micronesia beached off Sandown Castle, England probably not worth to be repaired according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad dated 11 June 1897

An item dated Deal, England 9th reported that the burning ship Micronesia was deliberately beached off Sandown Castle. An examination by her captain and Lloyds made clear that she was burned out between the bow and the mizzenmast. Her cargo consisting of hard blocks nitrate was stored in the fore and aft cargo holds. By nice weather could the ship perhaps by salvaged although it was uncertain if she was worth repairing.(1)
