French minister Pietri wanted to improve relation with England by limiting number of French submarines according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1935 no. 2

An item referred to the magazine N.M.R. reporting that according to the French minister Pietri (1) the building of French submarines was to be slow down, 95 submarines was more as enough. Further more was his opinion that for cruisers the maximum displacement for cruisers should be 7.500 tons and for battleships 27.000 tons. Petri thought that this measures would improve the relations with England.
