British destroyer HMS Tartar once the fastest ship within the Royal British Navy according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1907-1908 No. 11

An item reported that the British destroyer Tartar belonging to the newest 33 miles turbine driven destroyers was the fasten ship with the Royal British Navy. During 6 hours was her medium speed 35,363 miles and the maximum speed even 37,037 miles. The German magazine Schiffbau reported a medium speed of 34,857 knots during 6 runs at the Moplin-mile. During a 2 hours trial was the speed 34,7 knots. The medium speed on one return run was even 35,952 miles. According the least tidings was the medium speed during the 6 hours trial 35,363 miles. She was fitted out with 6 Thornycroft boilers. Built at the shipyard of John I. Thornycroft&Co. Ltd., Southampton, England.(1)
