An item dated 15th February referred to tidings dealing with the movements of the Dutch squadron in the Dutch East Indies reported that the Dutch screw steamship 4th class Zr. Ms. Apeldoorn (1) lieutenant 1st class H. Schokker was stationed in the waters or Riouw and Linga, Dutch East Indies and departed towards Siak, Dutch East Indies to replace there the Zr. Ms. Delfzijl.(2)

Building permitted after public tenders on 27 June 1859, laid down at the shipyard of A. van der Hoog, Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1859, launched in 1860, docked at the navy yard at Hellevoetsluis, Netherlands 10-15 October 1862, commissioned 14 March/16 April 1861, condemned and sold on a public auction at the navy establishment at Surabaya, Dutch East Indies on Saturday 3 March 1865, dimensions 38,00 x 8,16 x 3,20 metres, displacement 586 tons, horsepower 80 nhp/200 ehp, speed 6-7 knots, an armament of 6 guns and a crew numbering 75 men. Her original shipyard went bankrupt, she was completed by either the guarantors or at the navy yard at Amsterdam. Supervisors during the building were A.J.H. Beeloo and L.C.P.W. Visser.
2. Laid down in 1859, launched at the shipyard of K. Kater, Groningen, Netherlands on Saturday 4 August 1860, last mentioned in 1866, dimensions 38,00 x 8,16 x 3,20 metres, a 586 tons displacement, an armament of 6 guns and a crew numbering 75 men.
