French seagoing torpedo boat Avant-Garde launched at Le Havre, France according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1890 no. 1

An item reported the launching of the French sea going torpedo boat Avant Garde at Normand, Le Havre, France. Displacement 119 tons and as dimensions 42 x 4,5 x 2,3 (maximum metres. Steel built. Speed with 1.350 hp 20,5 knots. The armament consisted of a spar torpedo and 2-38cm torpedo launchers on pivots and further more 4-4,7cm quick firing guns.(1)

1. Of the Avant-Garde class consisting of the Avant-Garde, Archer, Turco, Zouave, Dragon, Grenadier and Lanchier/ Laid down at A.C. Augustin-Norman in 1888, launched on 11 October 1889, completed in 1890 and wrecked on 25 February 1890.
