German guided missile destroyer Mölders (D 186) 1966-

Part of the Lütjens-class consisting of the Lütjens, Mölders and Rommel, also indicated as class 103/103A/103B which were an improved American Charles F. Adams class-design. The latter design was based on lengthened hull of the American Forrest Sherman-class. Building ordered on 3 March 1965, laid down at Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, USA with hull number DDG-29 on 12 April 1966, launched on 13 April 1967, commissioned on 23 February 1969, modified and indicated as class 103A in 1970s, modified and indicated as class 103B in 1980s  no longer for active service destined on 21 November 2002, decommissioned on 28 May 2003 and nowadays a museum ship.

Displacement 41,62 tons and as dimensions 134,8 (over all) x 14,35 x 6,1-6,5 metres or 440.11 x 47.7 x 21.4 feet. The machinery consisted of 2 General Electric turbines and 4 high pressure steam D-V2M water tube boilers supplying 70.000 hp and allowing with the 2 shafts a speed of 33-36 (design) knots. With a speed of 20 knots was the range 4.500 nautical miles. The crew numbered 334 men. The original armament consisted of 2x12,7cm/5”/54 cal Mark 42 guns, 1-RIM-24 Tartar Mk 13 air to air missile launcher for which 40 missiles were carried, 1-RUR-5 ASROC anti submarine missile launcher and 2x3-32,4cm/12.75” Mk 32 torpedo tubes. Mid 1990s 2-RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile Mk 49 launchers each met 21 missiles, 2-SRBOC- MK36 twin launchers, 2-2cm guns and optional 2 so-called Fliegerfäuste and 2 machineguns.
