Russian submarine Krokodil sunk according to the Dutch magazine Marineblad dated 1910-1911 no. 5

An item reported the sinking in the harbour of Kronstadt on 2 April of the new 500 tons submarine Crocodile. There had been nobody on board during the incident.(1)

1. Part of the Kaiman-class consisting of the Kaiman, Alligator, Krokodil and Drakon, laid down by Wm. Crichton&Co., Okhta shipyard, St. Petersburg. Designed by Simon Lake was she launched in 1908, completed in 1911 and scuttled at Reval [nowadays Tallinn, Estonia] on 25 February 1918. Simon Lake (4 September 1886 Pleasantville, New Jersey, USA-23 June 1945 Milford, Connecticut, USA) was an American engineer and naval architect and pioneer in submarine building.
