Greece bought armoured cruiser from Italy according to the Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 14 September 1910

An item reported that the Greek cabinet bought from Italy the 1st class battleship Pisa. In Greece was money collected to buy even more warships.(1)

1. Probably the armoured cruiser Georgios Averof. Ordered 1909, laid down at the Orlando Shipyards at Livorno, Italy 27 February 1910, launched 12 March 1910, commissioned 1 September 1911 and decommissioned 1 August 1952. She was originally intended for the Italian navy as part of the Pisa-class.
