Chinese troops fired at American gunboat USS Pampanga according to the Dutch newspaper Het Centrum dated 24 July 1923

An item dated Canton, China 23rd reported that just before the constitutional troops captured Wouchow, China Kwangsi troops fired with artillery and rifles during 10 minutes at the American torpedo boat Pampanga (1) which passed the West river forcing her to return. There were no casualties.

Note
1. The former Spanish gunboat Pampanga laid down in March 187 at Cavite, Philippines, captured by the USA in June 1898 and sunk by the US Navy off the Chinese coast,  after all worthy parts were removed, on 21 November 1928.
