Design for American battle scout cruiser dated 9 September 1915


Never realized. Displacement and as dimensions 800 (waterline) x 94 (waterline) x 27.5 feet. 13 Boiler rooms. Horsepower 109.000shp allowing a speed of 35 knots and with a speed of 10 knots was her range 12.000 nautical miles. The armament consisted of 4x2-35.56cm/14” breech loading guns, 4-53.3cm/21” submerged torpedo tubes, 12-15,2cm/6” quick firing guns and 4-7,6cm/3” anti aircraft guns. The armour consisted of a main side belt with a thickness of 5”, an extreme width of 19’6” and a depth below the waterline of 7’. The barbettes were protected by 5” and the turret by 6” (port)-4.5” (sides)-5” (top) and 4” (rear)., the conning tower by 5”and the fire-control tower by 5”. Further more a 2:  thick protective deck. Turret armour stowed on the barbettes. Normal displacement of 32.000 tons divided over 14.102 ton hull complete + fittings, 3.680 ton protection, 6.970 ton steam engineering, 1.455 ton reserve feed, 2/3 supply, 2.113 ton battery and ammunition ton and 2/3 ordnance stores, 1.980 ton equipment with 2/3 equipment stores and 1.700 ton oil fuel 2/3 full supply.
