Clearing procedures in the harbour of Gydnia, Poland according to a Cia report dated 9 April 1953

An item supplied more details about the clearing in and clearing out processes in the harbour of Gdynia, Poland. Such a clearing lasted at least 3 hours including the necessary formalities/documents and inspection of the tanks. Every tank including the bottom tanks were to be drained and opened to allow inspection. Polish soldiers were not allowed to enter rooms and tank alone while their two officers who occupied a room during the clearing procedure refused every hospitality. The opposite happened when Polish entered the ship after the clearing who accepted all kind of hospitality although after they had assured that there were no Polish witness. Generally these people were against the regime.(1)
