Laid down by the Electric Boat Company, Groton, Connecticut, USA on 29 April 1943, launched by Mrs. George C. Crawford on 30 January 1944, commissioned on 27 May 1944, decommissioned on 7 November 1969 and stricken on 15 August 1973.
