British Pearl-class
An item reported that the Norwegian cabinet was discussing the purchase the in 1890 launched 2.600 ton British cruiser HMS Phöbe and to convert her into a training ship.(1)

Part of the Pearl-class cruisers 3rd class consisting of the Pearl, Pandora, Pallas, Pelorus, Persian, Philomel, Phoebe, Phoenix and Psyche, preceded by the Barham-class and succeeded by the Apollo-class. Designed by Sir William White (2 February 1845 Plymouth, Devon, England-27 February 1913 London, England). Laid down at the navy yard at Devonport, England on 23 April 1889, launched on 1 July 1890, completed in March 1892, [part of the Cape and West Africa Station 1893-1897, laid up in reserve, part of the Australia Station 1901-1905 and paid off and sold to A. Anderson, Copenhagen, Denmark on July 1906.
