Of the Leander-class, built by Swan Hunter on 29 December 1961, launched on 23 May 1963, commissioned on 25 April 1964, decommissioned on 31 January 1987 and sunk while used as a target in the North Atlantic on 21 July 1988.

Displacement 2.450 tons and as dimensions 113 x 12 x 5 metres or 372 x 41 x 18 feet. The machinery consisted of twin oil fuelled steam turbines supplying 30.000hp allowing a maximum speed of 30 knots and a range of 4.600 nautical miles. Crew numbered 251-257 (after upgrade armament) men. Able to carry a Wasp helicopter with her and was armed with 1x2-11,4cm/4.5” guns which were in a later stadium replaced by an Ikara anti-submarine missile launcher, 2 Seacat surface-to-air missile launchers, a Limbo anti-submarine mortar and 2-4cm anti aircraft guns.
