Dutch whale catcher MAJ Vinke (AM-15) (1940) 1950-1966

Call sign PFTB. Built as the Flower-class corvette HMS Rhododendron (K-78) by Harland&Wolff Shipyard, Belfast, Ireland in 1940. Building ordered on 19 September 1939, laid down on 22 May 1940m launched in 2 September 1940, commissioned on 18 October 1940, laid up in reserve since 17 May 1947m bought in August 1950 for account of the N.V. Nederlandse Maatschappij voor de Walvisvaart, Amsterdam, Netherlands (Vinke&Co.), rebuilt by shipyard H. de Hoog, Rotterdam, Netherlands, registered on 2 August as AM-15m after 1965 laid up at Cape Town, South Africa and sold to the South African Metal&Machinery Pty. Ltd at Cape Town to be broken up. Gross tonnage 720 tons, measurement 223 tons and as dimensions 58,37-62,5 x 10,06 x 5,00 (hold) metres. The Harland&Wolff Shipyard 4 cylinder 2.750ihp engine allowed a speed of 17 knots.
