An item reported the fenced and rail served Soviet Kerson Shipyard New Yard with as geographic coordinates 46.36.50 north and 32.35.30 east located on the south border of Kherson, Ukraine on the west bank of the Dnepr used for the construction of Metalurg Karako/Leninskiy Komsomol (1) and Poltava/Perekop merchant ships and possible Bolva APL’s. The shipyard possessed a side-haul marine railway, 2 building ways launching into a wet dock, a basis with 5 areas with quays and 7 fabrication, 5 shop and 30 support buildings.

The Keninsky Komsomol-class 16.185 tons deadweight cargo ships or Project 567 of which 25 were built by the Kerson Shipyard and the Nikolayev Shipyard and which were operated by the Black Sea Shipping Company and the Soviet Navy. The Metallurg Kurako laid down on 18 February 1959 and delivered on 2 November 1961 and her breaking up started on 15 November 1986 at Etajima, Japan.
