The results of the Dutch and German Greenland whalers according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated Saturday 26 July 1698

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 28th July referred to letters received from Hamburg, Germany reporting the arrival on the Elbe of the Propheet Elias commandeur Jan Brugge with 6 whales and one dead, totally 190 barrels returning from Greenland after a voyage of 4 weeks since leaving the ice. Brugge take with him a list of the results of the whalers from Hamburg namely the Groote Vreede 7 whales, Witte Paerl 4 whales, 307 querdelen blubber, Sevenstars 2 whales, Goude Leeuw 3 whales, Olyphant 9 whales, 430 quardelen, Hans Breukelman 2 whales, Drie Honing Korven 5 whales, St. Pieter commandeur Jans 5 whales, Schakelaer 2 whales, Rickmer Ricmers 5 whales and Pieter Laurens 4 whales but who was lost on 4 June. The results of Dutch whalers were Aldert Aldertsz 14 whales, Douwe Gerritsz 11 or 12 whales, Owke Berders 10 whales, Jan Dirksz van de Velde 6 whales and de Oude Visser 3 whales.
