The results of the Dutch Greenland whalers according to the Dutch newspaper Amsterdamse courant dated Saturday 2 August 1698

An item dated Amsterdam, Netherlands 1st August reported the arrival on 11th July of the Dutch commanders  Joost Springer with 5 whales and Roelof Jacobs with 8 whales returning from Greenland. On last Wednesday arrived the Charlotta Amelia commandeur Jacob Schol leaving the ice on 28 June taking with him a list of the catch results of the other Dutch whalers: Jan Dirksz van de Velde with his brother 14 whales, Gerrtant van de Velde 15, Jaep Swem 11 whales, de Groene Viskorf 5 or 6 whales, de Vergulde Molen 7 whales, de Swarte Walvis 8 whales, Pieter Claesz Ryckers 16 whales, De Decker 7 whales, the Nicolaes 12 whales, Pieter de Boer 7 whales. ‘s Lands Welvaren 7,5 whales, the Kaeskoper 2 whales,the Swaen 7 whales, the Brandaris 7 whales, a ship of Van Daelder 11 whales, the Vergulde Klok 8 whales, de Oude Wycker 6 whales, Ariaen Claesz 8 whales, the Oude Visser 8 whales, the Provincie van Zeeland filled, Jan Claesz Keuken 2 whales, Ryndert Bouwes 3 whales, Langer Allert 7 whales, Teunis Strop 11 whales, Jacob Ariaensz Jongh 11 whales, Hendrik de Brasem 5 whales, the Oude Braessem 7 whales, Isaac Krimpe 8 whales, Meyndert Ariaensz 11 whales, Dirk Slang early in the season 1 whale and lost in the ice were the whalers the Vergulde Keers, Gelukkige Matys, Star van Medemblik with 11 whales, Verbrande Ryp en 2 whalers of Hamburg, Germany.
