An item dated Hamburg, Germany 15 July 1762 reported the arrival on the Elbe or at Hamburg of the commandeurs Michel Jansen 150 quardelen, Hans H. Tonnies 128, Michiel Hansen 117 and Peter Michels 171 quardelen sail blubber returning from Greenland, the first 3 leaving on 24 June the 73 degrees, the last one on 10 June of 77 degrees on which position he spoke on 8 June commandeur Pieter Cornelis with 2 whale, 50 quardelen and on 13 June on 75.5 degrees Volkert Broer empty. Both commandeurs supplied him a list of the catch results of other whalers: C.P. Quak 3 whales, H. Jochems, R.G. Meyer and D. Driewes each 2 whales, Jan Swam and N. Feteris each 1,5 whale, N. Jacobs, M. Been, R. Jacobs, P. Walraven, J. Blankman each 1; of Hamburg Riewert Pieters and Heere Luitjes each 2 whales 70 quardelen, Booy Rikmers de Jonge and Steffen Jansen each 1 whale. Commandeur P. Cornelis arrived on 16 May on 77.5 degrees in a clean area where he caught his first whale, wind north east which started to get stronger, arrived at a second field which broke apart, there were around 40 ships, on 23 May he caught another whale, on 4 June he left the ice to try to enter it again on 78-79 degrees. He heard that one British whaler was lost.
