The Dutch Greenland whaler d’Oude Tobias in 1657

An deed dated 10 April 1657 (notary Claes Pietersz Keetman 503) mentioned that merchant Cornelis Boes commandeur of the Greenland company hired from merchant Adriaen Bras of Hoorn the ship d’Oude Tobias with as dimensions 123.5 x 24.5 x 11 (hold) Amsterdam feet for ƒ 2.345 to be used as a Greenland whaler. Intended commandeur on board was Dirck Cornelisz Fraij of Oosthuijsen, Netherlands.
