Dutch spar later fish torpedo boat Zr.Ms.(ex-XXI 1881-1882) Etna 1882-1913

Laid down by Yarrow&Co., London, England as a spar torpedo boat in 1881, launched in 1882, trial on 2 March 1882, commissioned on 23 May 1882, rebuilt by Yarrow in 1885 and at which occasion the spar torpedo devices were replaced by torpedo tubes, condemned in March 1912. The Dutch newspaper Algemeen Handelsblad dated 15 May 1913 reported the sale the same day by the Directie der Marine at Willemsoord, Netherlands of fer for ƒ 3.767 to M.S. Springer, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Her sailing rigging is removed in 1893. Building costs ƒ 102.887,00. Displacement 46 ton and as dimensions 3.40 x 3.68 x 1.70 metres. Steam propulsion supplied 550ihp allowing a speed of 21.75 miles. Crew numbered 13 men. Armament consisted of 2-3,7cm guns and 2 torpedo tubes.
