Japanese tanker Nissyo Maru 1937-1944

Laid down by Mitsubishi Jukogyo KK, Yokohama, Japan for Syowa Tanker K.K., Tokyo, Japan on 10 August 1937, launched on 12 June 1938, completed on 29 November 1938, requisitioned by the Imperial Japanese Navy on 23 February 1942, converted into a naval tanker between 20 April-2 July 1942 and sunk by the American Gato-class submarine USS Hoe (SS-258) 75 miles south of Davao, Philippines on 27 February 1944. Call sign YMYM. Also called Nissho Maru. Gross tonnage 10.526 ton, net tonnage 7.638 ton, deadweight 13.833 ton and as dimensions 528.8 (between perpendiculars)-554 (over all) x 39.4 x 11 (light)-30 (loaded) feet. Oil fuel bunker capacity 1.700 tons, diesel machinery supplying via one screw 2.250 nhp with 120 rpm allowing a speed of 17 (cruising)-20 (maximum) knots and a range of 22.000 nautical miles with 17 knots. Oil carrying capacity 100.000 barrels (42 galleons).
