Japanese navy ship (ex-Talthybius 1911-1942) Tarusaya Maru 1942-1945 (Empire Evenlode 1945-1949)

Launched by Scotts Shipbuilding&Engineering Co. Ltd., Greenock, Scotland with yard number 436 for the Ocean Steamship Co, Ltd. on 7 November 1911, completed in February 1911, heavily damaged in a Japanese air attack on Singapore on 3 February 1942 and left behind in the Empire Dock, salvaged by the Japanese, repaired and commissioned in the Japanese navy as Tarusaya Maru, sunk in 1945, salvaged and repaired by the British, renamed Empire Evenlode and finally broken up at Glamorgan, Wales in 1949. Gross register tonnage since 1934 10,224 tons, net register tonnage since 1934 6,492 tons and as dimensions 154,23 x 18,36 x 12,01 x 8,00 metres or 506.0 x 60.3 x 39.5 x 26.3 feet. Armament as Talthybius consisted of 1-4”or 4.7” gun, 1 Bofors gun, 4 machine guns and 1 kite.
