An item reported that the British HMS battleship Centurion (1), flotilla leader Stuart (2) and 4 destroyers were to cruise towards Smyrna and Constantinople [Istanbul, Turkey] where the Centurion was to replace the King George V (3).

1. Part of the King George V-class consisting of the King George V (ex-Royal George), Audacious, Centurion and Ajax, preceded by the Orion-class and succeeded by the Iron Duke-class. Laid down at the navy yard Portsmouth, England on 16 January 1911, launched in 18 November 1911, completed in May 1913, converted into a target ship in 1924, ideas to used her as block ship in the harbour of Tripoli, Libya declined in April 1941, converted with a false superstructure into a decoy for the HMS Anson in April 1941-1942 and finally sunk as a breakwater off Normandy in June 1944.
2. Part of the Scott-class flotilla leaders, laid down by Hawthorn Leslie and Company on 18 October 1917, launched on 22 August 1918, commissioned on 21 December 1918, decommissioned in May 1933, transferred to the Royal Australian Navy, commissioned on 11 October 1933, reserve since 1946 and sold to be broken up in beginning of 1947.
3. Part of the King George V-class consisting of the King George V (ex-Royal George), Audacious, Centurion and Ajax, preceded by the Orion-class and succeeded by the Iron Duke-class. Laid down by HM Dockyard at Portsmouth, England on 16 January 1911, launched on 9 October 1911, commissioned on 16 November 1912, decommissioned on 26 October 1926 and sold to be broken up in December 1926.
