British warships HMS Thunderer and Carysfort visiting Madeira respectively Portugal according to the Weekly Intelligence Summary No. 43 dated 29 October 1921

An item reported that the British battleship HMS Thunderer (1) departed Gibraltar on 24 October arriving at Madeira on 26 October. The British cruiser HMS Carysfort (2) arrived in the meantime at Lisbon, Portugal.

Notes

1. Building ordered under 1909 Naval Estimates. Laid down by Thames Ironworks and Shipbuilding Company, Canning Town/Blackwall on 13 April 1910, launched on 1 February 1911, commissioned in May 1912, decommissioned in 1921, seagoing cadet training ship since 1922 and sold to be broken up in November 1926 which was executed at Hughes Bolckow. Building costs 1.892.823 pond sterling and she caused the bankruptcy of the shipyard which built her. Of the Orion-class preceded by the Orion, Monarch, Conqueror and Thunderer consisting of the Colossus-class and succeeded by the King George V-class

2. Of the C-class light cruisers Caroline sub-class, preceded by Arethusa-class, succeeded by Danea-class, laid down on 25 February 1914, launched on 14 November 1914, completed in June 1915, last time decommissioned in April 1931 and sold to be broken up in August 1931.
