Photo made at Moerdijk, Netherlands in 1986 by Jan Anderiesse (RIP), allowed by Huug Pieterse to be published
After berthed for two years in the westelijke insteekhaven of Moerdijk, Netherlands were the landing craft transported by Interfeeder in 1993 to Dodewaard, Netherlands. All territory around the harbour was sold and ships were no longer be allowed to be laid up there. On 2 July 1996 reported the Dutch newspaper Reformatorisch Dagblad dat 2 of the 5 around 75 meters long craft sunk in the meantime and the government wanted the wrecks were removed. On the stern of one of the landing craft was painted with green paint Koski Moerdijk. All landing craft were of the same type and seemed to be bought by a German-Iranian company after the Iron Curtain fell. This company went later to be bankrupt. Temporarily laid up at Dodewaard seemed to be become permanent and due to the worse condition was the German demolition company Ramtec GmbH allowed to scrap the craft. The breaking up started a week earlier. In February 1997 were the three still floating craft broken up, the other two still sunk. Rijkswaterstaat broke up these two.(1)
Note
1. Probably the Polnochy-class or Project 770 landing ships with a full load displacement of 751-834 tons and as dimensions 73 x 9.6 x 2.3 metres or 239.6 x 31.6 x 7.7 feet.
