An item reported that on 15 May 1968 eleven Japanese salmon motherships with totally 369 catcher vessels left Hakodate, Japan bound for the fishing grounds in the Bering Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. The motherships involved were:
Shinano Maru, gross tonnage 9,048 tons, owner Nichiro Gyogyo
Chiyo Maru, gross tonnage 7,149 tons, owner Taiyo Gyogyo
Nojima Maru, gross tonnage 8,815 tons, owner Nihon Suisan
Meisie Maru No. 2, gross tonnage 9,356 tons, owner Nichiro Gyogyo
Jiyo Maru, gross tonnage 7,161 tons, owner Hokkaido Gyogyo Kooha
Kizan Maru, gross tonnage 8,622 tons, owner Nichio Gyogyo
Meiyo Maru, gross tonnage 7,152 tons, owner Hakodate Kokai
Kyokusan Maru, gross tonnage 10,757 tons, owner Kyokuyo Hogei
Otsu Maru, gross tonnage 8,033 tons, owner Hoko Suisan
Miyajima Maru, gross tonnage 9,612 tons, owner Hokoku Suisan
Meisei Maru, gross tonnage 8,571 tons, owner Nichiro Gyogyo
