Alfred Peter Friedrich von Tirpitz (19 March 1849 Küstrin, Prussia, Poland-6 March 1930 Ebenhausen, Germany) grand admiral and State Scretary of the German Imperial Naval Office (appointed in 1896. Responsible for converting since the 1890s of the modest Imperial Navy into a first naval power and a threat for the British Royal Navy.
