Japanese cargo ship Argun Maru 1919-1943

Call sign JNJD. Sister ships Argun Maru and Taibun Maru. Laid down by Osaka Iron Works Ld., Osaka, Japan in end 1919, launched on 21 July 1919, completed on 15 September 1920, chartered by army and used as troop transport in 1937, requisitioned by the army and became troop transport Allotted Army No. 534 and torpedoed and sunk by the American submarine USS Tringer (SS-237) in the East China Sea, north east of Keelung, Taiwan on 21 September 1943. Gross tonnage 6,608 tons, under deck 6,111 tons, net tonnage 4,048tons, deadweight 10,80 tons and as dimensions 415.0 x 55.5 x 34.6 x 8.6 (light)-28 (loaded) feet. Reciprocating propulsion, single screw, 552 nhp, coal bunker capacity 1,400 tons, range 10,000 nautical miles/9.5 knots and speed 9.5 (ormal cruising)1.3 (maximum)knots.
