Austrian aid for widows and children of Dutch drowned sailors according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 19 November 1852

After receiving a tiding from the Austrian consulate general in the Netherlands dealing with the faith of the 9 sailors of Hellevoetsluis the Austrian Central sea board at Trieste immediately reacted. The Dutch sailors lost their lives when they tried to rescue the crew of the Austrian ship Pegno d’Amicizia leaving behind 8 widows and 26 children. After a public call was all ready ƒ 1.090 collected and was more money to be expected. The consulate general would transfer the money to the municipality of Hellevoetsluis.
