Dutch naval movements in the Dutch East Indies according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 21 September 1852

Batavia, 23 July. The steamship Zr.Ms. Hekla (1) arrived 31 May at Billiton where very favourable tidings dealing with the mine-workers were received. Although the activities continued the need for more Chinese labourers increased. The Hekla steamed 2 June along the North east Coast of Banka south of Boompjes eiland and north of Tanjong Berekat between the Zeven Eilanden and Poele Docan towards Singapore where she arrived 5 June. The British brig of war Serpent which arrived at Prins Wallis Island reported the successful British expedition at the Bangan River where the king of Aras was defeated. The Hekla left Singapore 17 June and arrived the same day at Riouw and was 17 June west of Groot Tambelan Island. There were in the last two years none pirates sighted. After a voyage along the island Jarang, the Groen eiland, the St. Isprit islands and Linga arrived she 1 June at Palembang. From here she towed the advice brig Zr.Ms. Pylades after the troops, wounded and sick from Palembang were divided over both ships and 14 June arrived at Batavia.
