French brigs les Cinq Seoers and l’Heureuse Sabine in quarantine at Pomène according to the Nederlandsche Staatscourant dated 28 July 1825

Paris. 24 July. From Marseille arrived tidings that the French brigs les Cinq Seoers and l’Heureuse Sabine coming from Alexandria since 28 and 29 June were held at Pomène in a strictly quarantine guarded by two vessels stationed on a short distance. Nobody was allowed to come near the port or the island Raconneau of not absolute necessary. Probably this was done to prevent the plague arriving in the country.
